You’ll remember a great image for the rest of your life

Russell Lewis ARPS | Documentary Wedding Photographer in Herefordshire

Authentic, unposed storytelling for couples who want to enjoy their wedding, not pose for it

You should be able to look back at your wedding and remember the feelings, not the posing. With over 20 years of experience and ARPS accreditation, I focus on the honest, unscripted moments that happen naturally. Based in Bromyard, I’ve spent two decades documenting stories across the Herefordshire countryside - from grand manor houses to quiet rural barns. Relax, enjoy your day, and let an expert capture the moments you might otherwise have missed.

Over 20 years’ professional experience • Relaxed, documentary approach •

Every wedding is unique, which is why my coverage is entirely flexible - from intimate, short-day celebrations to comprehensive full-day storytelling. You’ll receive a curated collection of high-resolution, carefully edited images in a secure digital gallery, ready to share and print.

Based in Bromyard, I am perfectly placed to document weddings throughout Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, and Gloucestershire. Whether it’s a rural barn in the Wye Valley or a city celebration in the West Midlands, I bring over 20 years of local knowledge to every shoot

In two decades as a documentary photographer, I’ve had the privilege of working at nearly 200 venues across Herefordshire and the UK. Knowing a venue’s light and layout allows me to stay unobtrusive while capturing the best moments. Here are a few of my favourite local spots

Hampton Castle Wedding Photography | Herefordshire

I’ve photographed a number of weddings at Hampton Castle over the years and it’s a venue I always enjoy returning to. As a photographer, you’re essentially looking for two things - good light and a day that has enough room to breathe - and this Herefordshire estate consistently delivers on both.

The morning usually starts in the spacious, well-lit getting-ready rooms, which makes the start of a wedding day feel calm rather than chaotic. For couples looking for variety in their Hampton Castle wedding photos, the grounds are unmatched. Whether it’s the symmetry of the Dutch Garden, the 200-year-old Wisteria Arch, or the maze, there’s no shortage of iconic spots. However, it’s the quieter, overlooked corners of the 500-acre estate that tend to produce the most natural and relaxed portraits.

The staff at Hampton Castle are also worth mentioning. They run each event with an efficiency that maintains the "family feel" of the space. As a wedding photographer in Herefordshire, I find this a breath of fresh air; so many venues have become "wedding factories" that lose their character.

The setting near Leominster is grand without ever feeling stiff or overdone, allowing couples to genuinely relax. It is a well-run venue that I would recommend to anyone looking for a historic castle wedding with a professional, grounded atmosphere.
